Sometimes the color is too rich or not quite right, but you do not have much time on your hands. Here is an easy method in Photoshop.
Step 1 : This is a photo I have opened in Photoshop. The colors are a bit too rich. Some toning down would make it more natural.
Step 2 : Go to Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Channel Mixer
Step 3 : This dialogue box opens. Click ok.
Step 4 : The Channel Mixer dialogoue box opens. But before I explain it, look at the Layers/Channels/Paths pallette.
Step 5 : You can see that the Adjustment Layer has formed.
Step 6 : Now go back to the Channel Mixer dialogue box. Check the 'Monochrome'. But do not click ok.
Step 7 : This is how the photo looks like. Remember you have not clicked ok.
Step 8 : I have decreased the Red and increased the Green. As you increase and decrease the values you will find changes in your photo. When you are satisfied click ok.
Step 9 : This is how my photo looks like. It is black and white and has enough contrast.
Step 10 : Now click on the Background to select it. Then press CTRL+J to duplicate it.
Step 11 : A 'Background Copy' has formed.
Step 12 : Now drag the Background copy above the Adjustment layer as shown.
Step 13 : Drag the Opacity slider (light blue arrow) to the left. This will decrease the opacity.
Here is the finished photo. Is this not much more natural? That's all.
This photo of Angelina Jolie with Maddox will serve our purpose. Note that the colors do not seem all right. They are dull. Open up a photo in Photoshop which you wish to correct and follow the steps.
