Reincarnation Post: Glowing Skin

Make skin glow not with vitamins and tonic, but simply with this Photoshop tutorial.

Step 1 : I have opened this photo of this girl in photoshop. I will give her a glowing skin.

Step 2 : Press CTRL+J on the keyboard to duplicate the layer. Layer 1 is the duplicate layer.

Step 3 : In the Layers/Channels/Paths pallete change the Blend Mode to Screen.

She already looks fairer.

Step 4 : Go to Layer>Layer Mask>Reveal All

Step 5 : The Layer Mask has been added. Notice the border around the mask. It means that it is active.

Step 6 : Go to Image>Apply Image.

Step 7 : The Apply Image dialogue box opens. Click ok without changing any of the settings.

This may be visible if you are using a large image.

Step 8 : This is how the image looks.

Step 9 : Click the Layer thumbnail. Notice that this now has a white border around it and not the layer mask. The Layer Mask has been deactivated.

Step 10 : Go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur.

Step 11 : The Gaussian Blur dialogue box opens. Make sure Preview is checked. I have applied a Radius of 2.9 pixels. Click ok.

Step 12 : We need to add another layer mask, but Photoshop allows one raster layer mask per layer. To get around this, we' will group the layer. To do this press CTRL+G on the keyboard. Look at the Layers/Channels/Paths pallete.

Step 13 : Go to Layer>Layer Mask>Reveal All.

Step 14 : The Layer Mask has formed. Notice that it has a border around it. It means it is active.

Step 15 : Go to Image>Apply Image.

Step 16 : The Apply Image dialogue box appears. Click ok without changing any of the settings.

Step 17 : Go to Filter>Stylize>Find Edges.

Step 18 : Click the Zoom Tool.

Step 19 : With the Zoom Tool zoom into the image. You will notice a faint discoloured tinge where the blue arrow points to. This this is because of the Find Edges tool I used.
