Brushes Filters Make a Poster 2

Step 78 : This is where is ended I the earlier part of this tutorial. The earlier part is here.

If you have a background ready you may continue from here also. You can find out how to use the different Photoshop brush sets and where they are located. I have downloaded some free brushes from the internet too. The link to download these free brushes is given in the earlier tutorial. Click the earlier part.



Step 79 : Press CTRL+SHIFT+N to create a new layer name it Brushes. Click ok. The Brushes layer has been formed in the Layers/Channels/Paths pallete.

Step 80 : At the right top corner of Photoshop you will find the Brush sets. Click the Brushes (red arrow). You will find a small black arrowhead (blue arrow). Click it.

Step 81 : All the brush sets avilable is now seen. You have to click to select a brush set.

Step 82 : This is a close up of a portion of the sets available. I have selected speakers.

Step 83 : As soon as you click a brush set, this dialogue box opens. Click Ok.

Step 84 : Now you can see the Speaker shaped brushes.

Step 85 : Now click the Brush Tool.
Step 86 : Now you can see the speaker brush set which has replaced the default one. Click one to use.
Step 87 : Click the Foreground Color at left. It will bring up the Color picker dialogue box. I have chosen a green shade for the brush. Click. TIP you can increase or decrease the size of the brush with the [ ] (bracket keys). [ is to decrease the size. ] is to increase the size.

Step 88 : Now drag the brush layer down to behind the type layer.

Step 89 : The speaker brush has been applied.

Step 90 : I am now choosing the guitar shaped brush.
Step 91 : The guitar shaped brushes have been revealed.
Step 92 : Now click the brush tool again.

Step 93 : The guitar set of brushes have now replaced the speaker set.

Step 94 : The guitar brush has been used. Notice I have changed the Foreground color to yellow with the Color Picker as explained in Step 87.
Step 95 : Go to Layer>Layer Style>Bevel and Emboss.
Step 96 : When the Bevel and Emboss dialogue box opens. Check the Contour (red arrow). Then click ok without changing any other parameter.

Step 97 : Now CTRL+Click on the layer thumbnail Brush layer created earlier.

Step 98 : You will that all the brushes that I have used have columns of 'marching ants' selections. Press CTRL+J. This will copy and paste the selection to another layer.

Step 99 : Go to Filter>Texture>Texturizer.

Step 100 : In the Texture click the drop down window. I have chosen Brick. You may choose any you like.
Step 101 : This is how the brick texture looks after application. Click ok in the texturizer.

Step 102 : This is how the poster now looks. Now create another new layer by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+N.


Step 103 : I have chosen another brush set.


Step 104 : This is a car wheels brush set as you can see.

Step 105 : Click on the Brush Tool. Then click on top panel to reveal the car wheel brushes.

Step 106: I have applied the car wheels brush as also some other brushes. I have shown you how you can apply the brushes. Now it is upto you and your creativity to use them as you like. I have just shown of the things you can do with brushes.


Step 107 : Click back to Layer 0 (zero) the one you started off with to select it.

Step 108 : Go to Filter>Distort>Twirl
Step 109 : When the Twirl dialogue box opens drag the Angle slider all the way to the right. Click ok.
Step 110 : Go to Filter>Render>Lighting Effects.

Step 111 : When the Lighting Effects dialogue box opens, set the Style to Default. You can see the effect on the left. Click ok.

Step 112 : Go to Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Levels


Step 113 : The New Layer dialogue box opens. Tick the 'CLick Use Previous Layer to Create Clicpping Mask'. Then the Levels dialogue (Above) opens. Drag the sliders left as shown. Click ok.

Step 114 : Again click back to Layer 0 (zero) to select it.
Step 115 : Go to Filter>Texture>Texturizer.

Step 117 : In the Texturiser dialogue box choose Texture as Brick. You can see the effect in the bottom illustration at the left. Click ok.





The finished poster. It took me three days to post it. I am telling you this because the more effort you put into your work, the better the result will be. See you soon.

One last thing. Go to Brushes on the right top hand of Photoshop. Access it as shown and click on Reset brushes. You should reset nrushes or you will have the last set that you opened as the default set. That's all.
