Have you ever wondered how you can add a frame to your photos without using filters for which you have to shell out hard cash? Photoshop can easily create a frame to your own satisfaction. You can tinker and do what you like.
Step 1 : I have opened this photo of a court building opposite my office. It is known as Bankshall Court. I will add a frame to it with Photoshop. You can do it in any version of Photoshop. I am using PS CS3, but that does not matter. If you are using PS7 you can do it too.
This is a closer look at the photo.
Step 2 : Go to View>Rulers. Click on Rulers.
Step 3 : You can now see the rulers on the left and top.
Step 4 : Now drag the bottom right side of the corner as shown. It will reveal a gray background. Step 5 : Look at the Layers/Channels/Paths pallette. There is only a single layer i.e. the Background there.
Step 6 : Press CTRL+J on the keyboard and you will have a duplicate of the Backround i.e. Layer 1.
Step 7 : Click the Crop Tool to select it.

Step 13 : The crop has been applied and a white border has also been added. If you want just a white border you can stop here, but if you want to do something more follow the steps below.
